This landscape is transformed by the sun catching the pink blossom of the cherry trees. On a day where the sun moved in and out of cloud cover, I wanted to capture the moment where the petals really stood out. I enjoyed how the visitors moved in and out of the shadows walking under the flowers above.

Working from my sketches and photographs, the paint was applied quickly to emphasise the fleeting nature of the moment when the row of trees was in the spotlight.
